Maharashtra:

  1. Due to the heavy rains lashing on Monday, officials in Maharashtra reported that a portion of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway was caved, disrupting traffic movement. The traffic movement is expected to be disrupted for a few more days till repair works are completed.
  2. Furthermore, Sunday’s downpour caused water-logging in Byculla, Sion, Dadar, Mazgaon, Kurla, Vikhroli, and Andheri, which resulted in traffic disruptions. Traffic disruptions are expected to continue in these areas until the monsoon season is over. 
  3. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued warnings of disease outbreaks like leptospirosis.
  4. Over the past two to three days, significant to extremely heavy rainfall has been recorded due to the arrival of the monsoon, primarily over Maharashtra and parts of coastal Karnataka. Today, extremely heavy rainfall is predicted to persist over North Interior Karnataka, Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra, South and Central Maharashtra, and Coastal Karnataka. This will be followed by a gradual decrease in precipitation.
  5. While IMD expects a gradual decrease in precipitation, it also forecasts that because of a monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, 200 mm or more of severe rainfall over areas of Maharashtra is expected. Moderate rain and thunderstorms are anticipated over the following four to five days. 
  6. Marathwada is expected to have heavy rains (64.5–115.5 mm) on June 10 and Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra until June 12. Today, extremely heavy rainfall (over 204.5 mm) is predicted for the southern Konkan, Goa, and South Madhya Maharashtra, and very heavy rains (115.5–204.5 mm) for the northern Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Today is a red warning; tomorrow is an orange alert; and the day after that is a yellow watch.

Goa: 

  1. There is a good chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several places in the districts of North and South Goa. 
  2. From June 9 to June 13, squally weather with winds of 35 to 55 kmph with gusts up to 65 kmph is predicted along and off the coast of South Maharashtra and Goa. Fishermen should stay away from these places during this time. 
  3. In certain low-lying locations, there is a strong probability of flooding or waterlogging, which might cause traffic disruptions and lengthen travel times. The power sector may sustain harm from uprooted trees as well. 
  4. Tourists are advised and directed from entering the sea, and people are asked not to take shelter under trees. 

Karnataka:

  1. For June 11, 2024, the IMD has issued a “Very Heavy Rain Thunderstorm & Lightning, Squall etc.” for the coastal, north interior, and south interior regions of Karnataka. Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka received a yellow alert, while North Interior Karnataka received orange alerts. 
  2. The monsoon season is in full swing in Karnataka, with thunderstorms and sporadic rain predicted to continue today. With a warning of substantial rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Dharwad, and Belagavi. 
  3. An orange alert for significant rainfall has been issued in the districts of Uttara Kannada, Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri due to a severe weather pattern that the IMD has identified for the next 24 hours. 

Precipitation levels are expected to range from 11 to 20 cm. Furthermore, a yellow alert with a rainfall forecast of 6 to 11 cm has been issued for the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bagalkot, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bellary, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Kodagu, and Shimoga.

  1. The Arabian Sea is extremely turbulent, with waves rising and winds of up to 65 mph, the IMD says. Because of the dangerous conditions, fishermen from three coastal districts have been urged not to enter the sea.

Telangana:

  • There’s a good chance of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms over Telangana in numerous locations.
  1. In the districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, heavy rainfall is expected. 
  2. Thunderstorms, lightening and gusty winds with rain are very likely to occur in isolated places like Adilabad and Komaram Bheem, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal in Telangana.
  3. A yellow alert has been sounded in Hyderabad, and continuous rainfall may result in traffic congestion and waterlogging. Traffic disruptions would be the highest near tech parks, IKEA, and other famous malls like InOrbit.

Kerala and Lakshadweep:

  1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod on Tuesday, as heavy rain continues to fall in numerous parts of Kerala due to the cyclonic circulation over Marathwada. 
  2. Tuesday is predicted to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds to the state. Fishing is no longer permitted. The Kerala and Tamil Nadu coasts may see strong waves and the “Kalla Kadal phenomenon” till 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the National Centre for Oceanographic Studies.
  3. Along and off the coast of Kerala and Lakshadweep, squally weather is likely with winds of 35–45 kmph, with gusts up to 55 kmph. Between June 11 and June 14, fishermen are urged to steer clear of these sea areas. 
  4. Kasaragod, Kannur, Kerala, and the entire coastline from Kunzhathur to Kotte Kunnu are under a High Wave Watch. Wave heights of 2.0 to 2.2 metres are predicted between June 10, 2024, at 14:30, and June 11, 2024, at 23:30. Although it’s not necessary to respond right away, care is urged. Similar alerts have been sent to the districts of Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Kollam. 
  5. A High Wave Watch is in effect for Minicoy, Agathi, Amini, Androth, and Kavaratti islands. The wave is predicted to reach a height of 2.3 to 2.5 meters and is likely to last till 23:30 on June 11, 2024. Fishermen and residents of other communities should be cautious, even though it is urged that no action be done right away.
  6. A swell surge watch has been announced in Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Ernakulam. 
  7. Islands of Agathi, Amini, Androth, and Kavaratti have also been issued a swell surge watch.
